Happy new year! The network commission wishes all of you a connective new year where you will meet new friends and travel a lot!

Good news from our side! We welcome Rotterdam and Larissa as new contacts in the network. Furthermore we are busy with preparing the NWM's for Spring - they will be published the end of January!

We just had our NetCom Meeting in Barcelona. The last Agora (Istanbul) approved the new antenna-criteria: it is now obligatory for at least one board member to attend a NWM once a year. Therefore, we are asking ourselves how can we make NWMs more interesting and how to attract more people to come to NWMs.

Also we decided on our new NetCom Assistant. We are happy to announce that Dogus Kaya will take care of locals in Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan and Georgia!

We are now already working on the NetCom Times which will be printed during the EBM, preparing LTCs and deciding where we will have our Spring Network Meetings all over Europe!

As it was decided during the last Netcom Meeting in Brussels (August, 2006), the Internal Task Division of the Network Commission has changed. These changes will take effect during the AGORA Napoli, where the new Netcommies will be elected.

There are two main reasons for those changes. One is practical and the other one, idealistic.

The practical reason:

Since the Regional division was introduced, the AEGEE Network has changed a lot. Some areas have developed strongly, others become crisis areas. As result, the task division among Netcom Teams has become obsolete.

Some Netcommies have more locals to coordinate than others, and this makes the task division not fair. With the new task division, we are facing the current problems of the Network and we are trying to optimise our work towards the crisis areas of our Network.

The idealistic reason:

Past years, there were rigid regions which have built up the feeling of belonging to a particular Region, instead of a Pan-European Network.

The regional identities have become stronger in many cases around the Network, and this should be avoided.

When the Region idea was conceived, its only aim was to improve the task division among the Netcom members and make it clearer.
